The Shipyard is a massive production facility that is not so much built, but warped into the field after a lengthy wait time. This is the only vessel capable of producing the Battlecruiser and besides the Mothership, the only way to produce additional Carriers and Destroyers. Carrier ships are capable of warping in Shipyards themselves, as long as they have a Hyperspace module installed, which is useful if you loose your Mothership in a multiplayer game, but still want to fight it out.
